The poet was travelling in an airplane; and as his plane soared higher, he noticed many things that he had only heard about. He found an order, a systematic plan in the development of cities along rivers and in valleys.
As we live on the land surrounded by people and buildings, we are able to see only a limited and narrow aspect of the things around. This parochial perception does not let us see things in totality. However, as we see things from a bird’s eye-view, we are able to see many things that were out of our visual range.
