There was a village which was full of corn farmers. They used to have a state exhibition for all the

corn grown in that area.

One of the farmers grew award-winning corn and whenever he entered in the state exhibition, he

used to win the first prize.

A reporter from a popular newspaper visited him. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his

seed corn with his neighbours.

The reporter was surprised to hear this and he asked the award-winning farmer, “How can you afford

to share your best seed corn with your neighbours when they are entering their corn in competition

each year?”

The farmer replied, “Didn’t you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field

to field. If my neighbours grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I

am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbours grow good corn.” Name characters from real life or fiction (books, movies etc) that resonate with

this story.
