Hey buddy here is ur answer .......

# Thread measurement and inspection

There are a multitude of methods for measuring and inspecting threaded components. In this thread I'll give what I consider the advantages and disadvantages of each method and after that all can pitch in as to whether they agree with me or not and of course, if they don't agree, why not.
I'll try and give each method a separate post to keeps things separated.

The purpose of this thread isn't to give an opinion as to which system is the best as all have relevance and merits depending on what they are to be used for and how.
This thread isn't about the measurement or calibration of solid thread gauges (plug and ring) as this normally requires both expensive and very accurate equipment plus a temperature controlled environment. Let's keep it simple enough so shop floor options are known.

If in the pictures that will be included there are brand names to be seen then this will only be because it's the best picture to be found and NOT a recommendation of a particular brand. I don't know anyone that has the market cornered re a particular method or system.

Unless someone suggests otherwise then I'll go with the following methods and systems one by one.

1. Thread wires

2. Solid thread gauges

3. Thread inserts for measuring with a micrometer

4. Internal thread measurement based on using an indicator dial.

5. Thread calipers {originally "micrometers", changed per Gordon's request - TRL}

6. Thread inserts (and attachments) for measuring with a digital caliper

7. Thread rollers

8. Optical thread measurement

9. Methods that don't really fit into any of the above. Ingenuity can be both fascinating and frightening

If I seem to have forgotten something let me know and I'll add it on.

If things get confusing (it becomes a lengthy thread) then perhaps at some point this thread could be divided up into "sub threads" dealing in more detail with some of the methods and systems.

Don't be impatient This isn't something that can be done in a few minutes.

hope u like answer .....
