Three numbers are in the ratio of 4:5:6. If the sum of the largest and the smallest equals the sum
of the third and 55, find the numbers.

Let the numbers be 4x, 5x and 6x.

4x+6x =5x+55, or

10x - 5x = 55, or

5x = 55, or

x = 11.

So the three numbers are 44, 55 and 66.

Check:44+66 = 110 which is the same as 55+55. So correct.
