COLLOIDAL SOLUTION -
A colloidal solution is also called colloid.
It is the heterogeneous mixture but appears as a homogeneous mixture as the particles of the solution spread uniformly throughout the solution.
Examples -
Milk, Cheese, shaving cream, etc.
Properties of the colloidal solution -
- It is a heterogeneous mixture.
- It is big enough to scatter a beam of light passing through it and make its path visible.
- The size of the particle if it is very small and can not be seen through naked eyes.
- The particles of the solution can pass through filter paper.
- The particles cannot be separated through filtration.
- The solution is stable. The particles do not settle down when the solution is left undisturbed.
