Tickets numbered 10 to 50 are mixed up and then a ticket is drawn at random. What is the probability that the ticket drawn has a number which is a multiple of 2 or 7?

Total no of events ⇒ 50-10 = 40

Total no of multiples of 2 between 10 and 50 = 21

and  all the multiples of 7 between 10 and 50 are as follows

14,21,28,35,42,49

where 14,28,42 are also multiples of 2 hence they are already included

therefore we will only count 21,35,49 from the list

hence now the number of possible outcomes is = 21+3

=24

∴probability of getting a multiple of 2 or 7 is = 24/40

= 3/5
