The author finds the sound of flute very influencing and soothing. He loves the sound of flute. According to him, it is a universal instrument found in every culture, from the reed neh, the recorder, the deep bansuri of Hindustan classical to the clear and breathy flutes of South America. All these are different from other flutes due to their number of holes and sound, but all these produces sound only by the breaths of Humans. In a similar way, all humans are differentiated by race or religion but all are same, as they all have the same breath. Hence the author says, "To hear any flute is to be drawn into the commonality of all mankind."
