X + y = 3 : 3x - 2y -4 = 0

then x = 3 - y

Now putting putting the value of x in 2nd equation ,

3x - 2y = 4

3 ( 3 - y ) - 2y = 4

9 - 3y - 2y = 4

9 - 5y = 4

9 - 4 = 5y

5 = 5y

5 / 5 = y

1 = y
