Total Internal Reflection takes place in optic fibers depends mainly on the angle of incidence and the angle of reflection

when the angle of incidence is more than the critical angle then the ray does not get refracted but gets internally reflected. This phenomenon is known as Total internal reflection.

This happens mostly in optical fibers containing acrylic materials because in acrylic materials as there angle of incidence is more than the critical angle.
