objects which allow only some part of a incident light are called translucent objects. 
eg butter paper,oil paper

materials like frost glass and some plastics are called translucent. when the light strikes them only some light passes through them. the light doesn't pass directly through the material. it changes direction many times and even scatters .therefore we cannot see clearly through them. they appear fuzzy and unclear.
