Let the distance be x km

We should remember, when we reach early correct time = add the travel time with the extra time we reached early, when we reach late correct time = subtract the travel time with the extra time we reached late

As we know speed = Distance/time

So, Time = Distance/speed

Correct time to reach x distance at speed of 30km/hr (late)

= x/30 - 10/60 ( Here we divide 10 with 60 to convert it into hour)

Correct time to reach x distance at speed of 42 km/hr (early)

= x/42 + 10/60

So, as correct time is same for x distance, lets equate correct time of 30km/hr and 42km/hr

x/30 -10/60 = x/42 + 10/60

x/30 - x/42 = 10/60 + 10/60

x/30 - x/42 = 1/6 + 1/6

x/30 - x/42 = 2/6

42x - 30x/ 30 × 42 = 1/3

12x/1260 = 1/3

12x = 1260/3

12x = 420

x = 420/12

x = 35 km

So, the total distance is 35km

Hope it helped you dear friend
