Answer:

7:3

Step-by-step explanation:

In a 20 litres of mixture,

Quantity of Milk = (5/8) * 20

                           = 12.5 litres

Quantity of Water = (3/8) * 20

                              = 7.5 litres.

Given that Four litres of mixture is removed.

In 16 litres of mixture,

Quantity of milk removed = 10 litres (16 * 12.5/20)

Quantity of Water removed = 6 litres (16 * 7.5/20)

It is then replaced with 4 litres of milk.

Total Quantity of milk = 14 litres.

Total Quantity of water = 6 litres.

Ratio of milk to water in the new mixture = 14 : 6 = 7 : 3.

Hope it helps!

{\boxed{\boxed{\big{ANSWER}}}}
the mixture contains 20 litres
let ,
the amount of water in this mixture be 3x
the amount of milk in this mixture be 5x

according to question
5x + 3x =20
8x = 20
x = 20÷8
x = 2.5

then we find that the value of x 2.5 liters

Now we remove 4 liters from the mixture

and then the mixture contains only 16 litres

in the new mixture the amount of milk be 5x

and the amount of water in the new mixture be 3x

5x + 3x = 16
8x = 16
x = 16/8
x= 2

then the amount of milk in the new mixture be
=5x
=5 × x
= 5 × 2
=10 liters

the amount of water in the new mixture be
=8x
= 8 × x
= 8 × 2
= 16 liters

then the ratio is 10 : 16
= 5 : 6
