The total mass is 50± 0.6kg.

Given:

Mass 1= A+ΔA= 20± 0.2kg

Mass 2= B+ΔB= 30±0.4kg

To Find:

The total mass of the two bodies

Solution:

Let the total mass be Z and the total error be ΔZ.

We know that,

Z= A+B

±ΔZ = ±ΔA ± ΔB

Now, total mass Z= A + B= 20+ 30= 50kg

Total error ±ΔZ = ±ΔA ± ΔB= (± 0.2) + (± 0.4)= ± 0.6

Therefore, total mass is 50± 0.6kg.
