Two crossroads each of which 10 m ,cut at right angles through the centre of a rectangular park of length 70 m and breadth 30 m and parallel to its sides.Find the area of remaining park.​

Solution :

Length of the rectangular park : 70 m

• Breadth of the rectangular park : 30 m .

Two cross roads , each of width 10 m are drawn .

Total area of the park :

=> Length × Breadth

=> 70 m × 30 m

=> 2100 m²

Now , let us find the area of the roads and subtract from the total area to get the remaining area .

Area of Roads :

=> 10 × Breadth + 10 × Length - 10 × 10 ( Overlapping area)

=> 10 × 70 + 10 × 30 - 100

=> 700 + 300 - 100

=> 900 m²

Remaining area :

=> 2100 m² - 900 m²

=> 1200 m² .

Answer : The area of the remaining park is 1200 m² .
