Given

Two electrons are placed at a distance of 1 fermi (femtometer). Calculate the gravitational force of attraction between them. Given :  mass of electron 9.1 x 10-31 kg and 1 fermi = 10-15 m).

Solution

r = 1 fermi = 10^-15 m

mass of electron = 9.1 x 10^-31 kg

value for G of 6.754 × 10^−11 m^3 kg^−1 s^−2

Fgravity = (G x m1 x m2)/r^2

             = 6.754 × 10^−11 x (9.1 x 10^-31)^2 / (10^-15)^2

             = 0.56 x 10^-40 N
