SI=SI1+SI2
960=(x*7*4)/100+(x*5*4)/100
960=(x*4)(7+5)/100
960*100=(x*4)12
96000/12=x*4
8000/4=x
x=2000
Total sum is 4000

Answer: Let assume 200 as principal.

Two equal part = 100 each.

So in 1st case,

7% * 4 yrs = 28%

:. 100 * 28% = Rs 28.

2nd case

5% * 4 yrs = 20%

So, 100 * 20% = Rs 20

Total si on Rs. 200 is Rs 48.

But According to question SI is Rs. 960, which is 20 times extra which we get at Rs 200.

So, principal must be 200 * 20 times = Rs 4000.
