two lamps, one rated 220V, 50W and the other rated 220V, 100W, are connected in series with a mains of voltage 220V. Explain why does the 50W lamp consume more power.​

we know that, power, P =V²/R

Thus, resistance is Inversely proportional to power, i.e. higher power less will be resistance and vice- versa. So the electric lamp with power rating 50 W Will have a higher resistance as compared to 60 W lamp.
