Two motorcycles start from the opposite places of a main road, 150 km apart. The first motorcycle

runs for 25 km and takes a right turn and then runs 15 km. It then turns left and then runs for

another 25 km and then takes the direction back to reach the main roa(d)In the meantime, due to

minor break down the other motorcycle has run only 35 km along the main roa(d)What would be

the distance between two motorcycles at this point?

Given:

Distance between the motorcycles is 150km.

Motorcycle A moves 25km straight, 15km right , 25 km left and 15km left to reach the main road.

Motorcycle B moves 35 km on the main road.

To Find :

Final Distance between A and B.

Solution:

Plot the above conditions on the graph.

Final position of A is A' and final position of B is B'.

From the graph we can comprehend that:

OA'=25

AO=25

AA'= AO+OA'

     =25+25

     =50

BB'= 35

AA'+A'B'+B'B=150

50+A'B'+35=150

A'B'=65

Hence the  final distance between the motorcycles is 65 km.
