Two numbers are in ratio 2:3.if 4 be subracted from each, they are in the ratio 3:5.the numbers are?

let common multiple be x.
2x,3x.
2x=4-2=2.
3x=3-2=1.

let the numbers be 2x & 3x
so,2x-4=3x
and 3x-4=5x
5x(2x-4)=3x(3x-4)
10x^2-20x=9x^2-12x
10 x^2-9 x^2=20x-12x
x^2=2x
x=2
