For such kind of questions just assume the numbers to be anything you want!!

Like x and y for instance... So,

x/y = 1/3

3x = y

Sum is given as 145, so

x+y = 145 but y = 3x

x + 3x = 145 then x = 145/4 and y will be 3x so then y = 435/4

Solution :

Let the numbers be x and 3x

sum = x + 3x = 4x

But actual sum = 145

∴  ACQ

4x = 145

x = 145/4

x = 36.25

so, the numbers are

x = 36.25

3x = 3 x 36.25 = 108.75

Check: 36.25 + 108 .75 = 145
