Two numbers are in the ratio between them is 3:5. If each is increased by 5, the ratio between the new numbers so formed is 2:3. Find the original number.

let the multiplying factor be x

 \frac{3x + 5}{5x + 5}  =  \frac{2x}{3x }

cross multiplication

3x(3x + 5 ) = 2x( 5x + 5)

9 {x}^{2}   +  15x \:  =  \: \: 10 {x}^{2}  \:  + 10x

5x \:  =  {x}^{2}

x = 5

3x = 15

5x = 25
