Two years ago and father was 5 times as old as his son. Two years later his a few will be 8 more than three times the age of the son. Find the present age of Father and son

Let son's age = x = 16
Let father's age = y = 60
y - 5 = 5 ( x - 5 )
y - 5 = 5x - 25
y - 5x = -25 + 5
y - 5x = -20
y = -20 + 5x ----------(1)
y + 2 = 3 ( x + 2 ) + 8
y + 2 = 3x + 6 + 8
y + 2 = 3x + 14
y - 3x = 14 - 2
y - 3x = 12 -------------(2)
-20 + 5x - 3x = 12
2x = 12 + 20
2x = 32
x = 32 / 2
x = 16 ---------------(3)
Put (3) in (1)
y = -20 + 5 * 16
y = -20 + 80
y = 60
