What is degree of polynomial?
- It is the value of total powers ( highest sum ) in a term of an expression.

Coming back to question,

4 {x}^{4} + 2 {x}^{3} + {x}^{5} + 2x + 7

Total power in 1st term = 4

Total power in second term = 3

Total power in third term = 5

Total power in fourth term = 4

Total power in fifth term = 0

The degree of polynomial = 5 ( From the above statements )
