Starting at home, Ishaan traveled uphill to the grocery store for 12 minutes at just 15 mph. He then traveled back home along the same path downhill at a speed 30 mph. What is his average speed for the entire trip from home to the grocery store and back?

Average speed = total distance/total time

Distance uphill = distance downhill

Time in hrs uphill = 12/60 = 0.2 hrs

Speed = 15 m/h

Distance = speed × time

= 15 × 0.2 = 3m

Time downhill = 3/30 = 0.1 hrs

Total time = 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.3 hrs

Total distance = distance uphill + distance downhill

= 3 + 3 = 6m

Speed = distance / time

= 6/0.3 = 20 mph

= 20 mph
