Hey mate
Here is your answer,

★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆★ ☆

given,
p(x) = x³-2x²-4x-1

divided by (factor)
x+1

So if x + 1 = 0

=> x = -1

then if x = -1

p( - 1) =  { (- 1)}^{3}  - 2 {( - 1)}^{2}  - 4( - 1) - 1 \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  - 1 - (2 \times 1) - ( - 4) \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  - 1 - 2 + 4 \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  - 3 + 4 \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  = 1
Hence the reminder will be 1.
