Three-pin socket

This type of plug is generally used for class III electrical appliances such as refrigerators, microwave ovens and especially those with metal bodies. These appliances need to be earthed/ grounded to avoid the risk of electrocution in case there is an electricity leakage to the metal body. It also works as a safeguard for insulation failures
