The poet is an anti war person who with this poem has tried to bring out the horrors of war. It shown the diplomacy and politics and war are matters which are cut off from the lives of comm0n men. War is pointless as the only out come is loss in life as well as wealth. Both the sides the losing and winning suffer loses. and although the side who won has hardly anyone left to celebrate(According to the poem).
