The first cotton mill of India was Bowreah Cotton Mills, it was established at  Fort Gloster south of Calcutta in the year 1818. Nonetheless, this plant was a crash. The actual foundation of modern cotton cloth industry of India was led by KGN Daber; who set up his mill in the year 1854. In 1861 another cotton textile mill was set up in Ahmadabad.
