Pigments absorb light used in photosynthesis. For instance, plants appear green to us because they contain many chlorophyll a and b molecules, which reflect green light. Most photosynthetic organisms have a variety of different pigments, so they can absorb energy from a wide range of wavelengths.

Just before Starch test – Pale yellow

Just after Starch test – Blue black

6CO2 + 6H2O ------>C6H12O6 + 6O2

O2 is obtained from water (H2O), as splitting of water results in formation of Hydrogen

(used for making glucose) and oxygen (by-product).
