Before I tell the various types of secondary storage devices and their uses, I'd like to tell you what is memory, and what are the types of memory and then I'll come to your question.

So, memory is defined as the data that is stored in a computer or peripheral device. Here, the word stored means to store anything- it may be system software, application software, photos, videos, audios, or anything!

Coming to the types of memory, we have, ↓

• Primary Storage: It is the inbuilt main memory of the computer. It has two types: RAM & ROM. RAM is a temporary memory while ROM stores all the data such as applications, files etc...
• Secondary Storage: It is an extra peripheral connected to a computer in order to increase the storage of the computer, or to copy files from a storage media to the computer and/or vice-versa.

Here, a term 'Storage Media' is used. → Storage media is a peripheral connected to the computer or, simply a secondary storage device such as PenDrive/FlashDrive, HardDisk/HardDrive, CD/DVD, MemoryStick/Memoryard etc.....
