To verify the above expression using the value of x=-3/4 and y =-6/7 we have to follow the below steps as follows-

The above expression is

 - (x + y) = ( - x) + ( - y)

Putting the value of x and y on the left side we get-

 - ( \frac{ - 3}{4}  +  \frac{ - 6}{7} ) \\  - ( \frac{ - 21  - 42}{28} ) \\  \frac{63}{28}  \\  =  \frac{9}{4}

Putting the value of x and y on the right side we get-

 -  \frac{ - 3}{4}   + ( -  \frac{ - 6}{7} ) \\  \frac{3}{4}  +  \frac{6}{7} \\  \frac{21 + 42}{28}   \\  =  \frac{9}{4}

Hence the above expression is true.
