- 15 / 14

Step-by-step explanation:

hence x + y = y + x

xy = 5/7 * (-3/2)

= -15/14

Answer: Let's consider first the L.H.S

i.e x+y

Here,         x=5/7  and   y=-3/2

Therefore ,

                    x+y=\frac{5}{7} +(\frac{-3}{2} )

                    x+y=\frac{5}{7} -\frac{3}{2}

                    x+y=\frac{5*2}{7*2} -\frac{3*7}{2*7}

                   x+y=\frac{10-21}{14}

                  x+y=\frac{-11}{14}

Now, taking R.H.S

                  y+x=\frac{-3}{2}+\frac{5}{7}

                 y+x=\frac{-3*7}{2*7}+\frac{5*2}{7*2}

                 y+x=\frac{-21+10}{14}

                 y+x=\frac{-11}{14}

Therefore , L.H.S =R.H.S

Hence verified  x + y = y + x

Now,         x*y=\frac{5}{7} *\frac{-3}{2}

                x*y=\frac{-15}{14}
