Hello Lola
I have been meaning to write to you for sometime. But the weirdest series of incidents at home delayed my letter. You know what! My grandfather got married. Can you believe it? Believe it or not, it did happen. But what occurred before that is even more weird.
Everything started when my mother went to give my grandfather breakfast and saw him lying very still in his bed. She assumed that he was dead and informed her sister Elizabeth, who was not on good terms with us for sometime. Then I was asked to wear a boring dress because my grandfather was dead. I was really sorry to hear it because I loved my grandfather. He is a jolly person.
When I came down wearing the mourning outfit I saw my parents bringing my grandfather's bureau and clock down. I knew that they were pinching them, But my mother denied it. I was asked to guard the front door and not to open if my aunt Elizabeth comes. I was also surprised to see my father wearing my grandfather's new pair of slippers. I knew that they were also pinched.
Them my aunt and uncle came. There were talks about many things and they came down to sharing his things. None of us was sure whether he had payed the premium of his insurance. I was asked to go up and see if I can find the receipt. I was dead scared to enter the room with a dead body but my mother forced me to do so. I went inside and to my horror I saw my grandfather sitting up. I fled. Before I could tell them what had happened, grandfather came down. You know he was not dead. He was in a drunken stupor. Then it was all fun for me. Grandfather was surprised to see his things downstairs and his slippers on my father's feet. Aunt Elizabeth accused my mother of stealing his things and there was an incredible raw. My grandfather understood what had happened and he decided to get married to the widow who owns the local pub and spend the rest of his life with her and what's more, he decided to write all his property in her in her name. Accordingly, he got married and moved in with her.
I was very sorry to see him go like that. I did not care about his bureau or clock but I wanted my grandfather. He had given me permission to go and see him whenever I want. I hope my parents would allow me to.
Isn't it a whole lot of excitement? That's why I was late to write to you. how are you doing. Do write to me. You know, I am lonely without my grandfather.
Yours Victoria.
