Virtually true.....Michael, the narrator, is fond of computers and various games one can play on them. His father is also wary about computers and buys the latest gadgets and gizmos. At a computer fair they buy a new set of psycho- drive games. As Michael begins playing Wild West “he becomes a sheriff who is challenged by Jed a dead shot. Michael is joined by another sheriff who advises him to escape. While Michael is able to escape, the other sheriff (Sebastian Shultz) is shot. Next day Michael gets a message from Shultz to play “Dragon quest “to save him. In this game too Michael is able to escape but not Shultz. Again a message comes that Michael should save Shultz by playing “Jailbreak ". Again, while Michael is able to survive, Shultz is not. As a last resort Michael plays “War Zone “ . He jumped into the game right away. He found himself in a city that is scarred by battle wounds. He knew that his job was to save Sebastian. They run together towards an abandoned jeep that they manage to find amidst the rubble. Then, they go towards a helicopter as a tank follows them. As soon as it came to their view, Sebastian stopped the car. Michael jumped into the helicopter when the jeep went into a spin. Sebastian does not go into the helicopter at this point. Michael patiently waits and shouts at him to come into the helicopter but Sebastian does not budge. A few moments later, Sebastian is thrown into the helicopter when the tank collides with the jeep. They fly into clouds and the game ends, saving him. When Michael removes his visor, he realizes that he has got the higher score. Michael, then suddenly sees the picture of this boy Sebastian Shultz in a newspaper which tells how Shultz had met with an accident and lay in coma, before being saved miraculously. So, Michael realizes that Shultz, the boy in the games, really existed. Apparently, the game they had bought was stolen from Shultz and carried his “memory ". This is where, Michael realizes, the line between realities and “virtual reality” gets burred and one does not know what is real and what is “virtually true".
