Indeed visiting is better than studying. Studying is a reading & learning process while visiting involves all the process like, adventure, excess to new knowledge, learning, etc.

Generally, the things that we do practically is termed better for understanding something. Visiting a place & learning things practically is better than studies. Example: A student is reading about any famous monument, if he/she have to learn by reading from the book then this will be quite boring but if he/she is given chance to visit the monument place & discover things then surely he/she might learn more than what is given in book.
