nicola & jacopo had the values of courage ,responsibility, determination & selflessness. war not only orphaned them but also snatched away their life of comfort. the shattering of their home by a bomb threw them into streets. life treated them harshly by exposing them 2 biting cold ,want ,starvation & hard work.however all these dreadful experiences failed 2 break their spirit & they chose 2 face life with courage.neither scarcity of work, nor the demanding nature of odd jobs like shoe shining, selling fruitetc. intimidated them.they took up all the challenges of life including the responsibility of getting their tuberculosis ridden sister treated readily without depending upon anymore.

Nichola and Jacopo lost their every thing in war. It snatched their father's life, it took away their beautiful home and also led their sister to a very dangerous disease of back tuberculosis. If their would have anyone else he or she would got broken by seeing all their circumstances but the two boys were not like that. War had not broken their spirit where as it has created a new mindset in them to throw away Germans from their country and to save their sister by doing hardwork. They were self dependent, hard working , kind, sincere and honest..
