a) Why do honeybees collect nectar?

Honeybees go from flower to flower in search of food. They find this food in the form of nectar in flowers. The bees drink up this nectar and use some of it to get energy right away. The extra nectar is stored in their stomach, where it reacts with an enzyme and changes to honey. However, this honey contains a lot of water. So, once they get back to the hive, the bees p$ss the honey to one another. This act dries up the water and makes the honey thicker. This thickened honey is eventually stored in the hive and covered with a layer of wax, to preserve it for the future.

In short, bees collect nectar as food because it gives energy and store the excess food in the form of honey for times when food is not readily available, like during winters.

b) What value do you learn from honeybees?

We can learn the value of hard work, teamwork, community living and future planning, from the bees. They live together in hives and work for the entire community. Also, they are organised and prepared for difficult times.
