Regional groupings are formed with local issues pertaining to immediate grievances in the beginning and later on based on their goal, administrative and political handling, and redressal have the potential to become national issue. The inherent diversity of country and democratic system provides congenial environment for their growth.

Answer:

Regionalism is described as a way of allegiance to a specific portion of a nation and a desire for it to be more self governing politically.

Positive regionalism implies affection for one's own culture, region, language, etc. whereas adverse regionalism is an unnecessary attachment to one's areas rather than the state's nation. Positive regionalism helps create brotherhood and commonality based on common language, religion or historical background and helps a specific regional group to keep its autonomous identity.

Negative regionalism can present a danger to the country's unity and integrity. The word regionalism was usually used in the adverse sense in the Indian context.

Regionalism has risen, not only because of regional parties, but because of the country's uneven growth, which is the overall law of capitalism.
