Education gives us knowledge, skills, ability to get employment and suitable status in the society. Education enhances our intelligence and teaches ways to utilize our intelligence and efforts for our good and the good of the society.
Western education has some effect on our lives. Western education changes the basic traditions in teaching, learning, living styles and habits of students. Education involves study of previous efforts of experts in that field of science, commerce or arts. So western education involves mostly the history and study of western experts in those fields.
So students are indirectly affected by the thinking, lifestyles, food habits, writing and reading habits of those experts. New things come in and old things go out of student's lives.
Students learning with the western education system gradually change into western people. Perhaps it is good. Perhaps it is bad. It is bad when the local traditions are ignored or insulted. Western education is bad when it generates hate or indifference in the minds of the students against their own motherland or relatives.
Western education also generates a feeling of superiority in the minds of the students. It gives a special status to them in the local society. Perhaps they become a burden perhaps they become assets. It depends on how they use their education.
Western education system has a different relation between teachers and students. It is different from the local system. Western education system has many students working for earning their scholarship or tuition fees. Western education system has practical projects and useful activities which are useful to the student after graduation. Perhaps some of these could be useful if they are adapted.
