Anti oxidants are used to prevent any material from getting oxidised . every material gets spoil because of oxidation so they are some type of chemicals which are used in packaging materials.

Antioxidants are compounds or molecules in the presence of which oxidation does not take place. The fat and oil containing food materials when oxidised smells and becomes bad. So antioxidants such as nitrogen are added to them so that the food materials do not oxidise and remain good for longer time.
