      Answer:

Both are Chambers of Heart. The atrium is a chamber in which blood enters the heart, as opposed to the ventricle, where it is pushed out of the organ. The atrium receives blood as it returns to the heart to complete a circulating cycle, whereas the ventricle pumps blood out of the heart to start a new cycle.Mammalian heart has 4 chambers-

1.LEFT ATRIUM

2.LEFT VENTRICLE

3.RIGHT ATRIUM

4.RIGHT VENTRICLE

       Explanation:

ATRIA: These are the chambers which receive blood from other organs into heart. They are the UPPER chambers. They are THIN walled. They have NO inlet valves.Their contractions are incomplete and gentle preventing interruption to flow OR back flow of blood.

VENTRICLES: These are the chambers which pump blood from heart. They are LOWER chambers. Ventricles have THICKER walls than atria and generate higher blood pressure. The physiologic load on the ventricles requiring pumping of blood throughout the body and lungs is much greater than the pressure generated by the atria to fill the ventricles. Further, the left ventricle has thicker walls than the right because it needs to pump blood to most of the body while the right ventricle fills only the lungs. They have inlet valves.Their contractions are strong.
