1. Health Care

The Health Care Industry is evolving rapidly and is incorporating the latest innovations and technologies. Robotics has been a major player in the current evolution of this industry.

Example: iRobot is a remote presence robot that allows outpatient specialists to interact with their patients.

2. Military and Public Safety

Robots are used to conduct reconnaissance, battlefield support, and sentry duty.

Drones can now be first responders to car accidents or other types of accidents. There are many companies that are developing unmanned, remote-controlled flying drones that can provide real-time analysis and monitor potentially dangerous situations.

Example: iRobot is developing a robot concept that will allow a 5-pound machine with cameras and sensors to be dropped into burning buildings or hostage situations for risk assessment.

3.  Manufacturing

Robots were first used in this industry in 1961. Back then, robots were automatic, doing repetitive and menial tasks that people found boring or dangerous. Now, they are now more efficient than unskilled labor in the manufacturing industry.  Robots that are increasing productivity in the manufacturing industry.

Example: Australia's Drake Trailers has reported that it introduced a single welding robot into its production line and saw a 60% increase in productivity.

The different sectors where the robot is used are

  • Health care.
  • Agriculture.
  • Food Preparation.
  • Manufacturing.
  • Military.

Health Care:

The da Vinci Surgical System, for example, employs the hand movements of the managing surgeon to manage tiny, exact instruments within the patient’s body. This enables minimally invasive techniques in surgeries such as "cardiac", "colorectal", "gynecologic", "head and neck", "thoracic, and urologic".

Agriculture:

The innovative use of autonomous operations that automate operations like "pruning", "thinning", "mowing", "spraying", and "weed elimination".

Food Preparation:

Automated and intelligent robots such as those developed by Moley Robotics will be able to prepare and cook hundreds of meals in a home kitchen. Moley Robotics is also incurring a consumer-friendly variant of a robot kitchen, which will include a built-in smart dishwasher and refrigerator.

Manufacturing:

Many robots in manufacturing collude with workers to execute repetitive, monotonous, or intricate tasks under the worker’s guidance and control. Cameras, sensors, and automatic shut-off capacities allow robots to sense and stay clear of humans in the workplace.

Military:

Unmanned drones are used for examining the highly visible area. These machines can be utilized for surveillance and relief operations on the battlefield. Drones are revolutionizing disaster response since they can access hazardous areas with greater speed and accuracy without placing human responders in harm’s means.
