There are two types of endoplasmic reticulum (ER):-

Smooth ER-This type of ER does not have ribosomes attached to its surface

Rough ER-This type of ER has ribosomes attached to its surface. RER is associated with protein synthesis

There are two types of Endoplasmic reticulum:- i) Rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER)

The RER has ribosomes attached to it which make proteins .

The SER helps in the manufacture of lipids or fat molecules and detoxifying toxic in body such liver and kidney.

Some of these proteins and lipids are help in building the cell process known as biogenesis. Some other proteins and lipids function as enzymes and harmones which is important.
