A partitive article is a type of article, sometimes viewed as a type of indefinite article, used with a mass noun such as water, to indicate a non-specific quantity of it. Partitive articles are a class of determiner; they are used in French and Italian in addition to definite and indefinite articles.

Partitive articles tell the quantity of something. It means 'some'. We have 4 partitive articles in french. These are-
Du (masculine singular)
De la (feminine singular)
De l' (masculine/feminine vowel)
Des (masculine/feminine plural)
For example:
Vous achetez du pain à la boulangerie, de la créme à la cremerie, de l'œuf et des gâteaux.
Exception- partitive articles are changed to de/d' while forming negatives.
Example: Il n'y a pas d'œuf dans le frigo.
Il n'y a pas de crayons dans la trousse.
However, with être it isn't so. Être is an exception here. When you firm negative with être, you keep the partitive article as it is. You don't change it into de/d'. It agrees with the object.
Pls mark as the brainliest.
