the neurons that carry nerve impulses generated due to stimulus to CNS ( central nervous system) is known as sensory neuron.
The neuron that carries nerve impulses to the effector organ to give response to stimulus is known as motor neuron.

Sensory neurons are responsible for sensing the stimuli. They sense the external stimuli and then sends the information to the motor neurons in the form of electric impulse. Motor neurons take the information and then actions are taken. Motor neurons are responsible for changing the shape of the muscle cells by the proteins present in them.
