Answer:

For example, spraying a marsh to control mosquitoes will cause trace amounts of DDT to accumulate in the cells of microscopic aquatic organisms, the plankton, in the marsh. In feeding on the plankton, filter-feeders, like clams and some fish, harvest DDT as well as food.

Biomagnification

When small amounts of toxic chemicals that cannot be excreted by organisms enter the food web, they get accumulated in the body of the organism. Their concentration increases when this organism becomes the food of its predator. This process continues and the concentration of the toxic substance becomes highest in the tertiary consumer. This is biomagnification.

Biomagnification is shown by DDT, mercury, other insecticides and pesticides which are accumulated in the bodies of different animals as they cannot be excreted.

Hope this helps you ☺️
