A member of the Lok Sabha can be disqualified if :-
1. He holds any office of profit under the Government of India.
2. He is of unsound mind.
3. He is an undischarged insolvent.
4. He is not a citizen of India or has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a Foreign State.
5. He is so disqualified under any law of the Parliament .
6. He is a proclaimed criminal.
If he knowingly sits in the parliament despite knowing that he is disqualified, then he shall be imposed upon by a penalty of Rs. 500.
