Stereotyping is when individuals have a over generalized belief about a particular group or class of people. There are many disadvantages that go along with stereotypes. For instance, stereotypes make us ignore the differences between individuals, which makes us think things about people but may not be true. Stereotyping leads to accusations and assumptions of other people. A major way we use stereotypes is to simplify our social world. When we stereotype, we ignore all the characteristics and abilities that an individual may have. Social categorization is established due to stereotypes, which may lead to prejudice attitudes. A lot of these actions will take place into categorizing people into groups. In our world, individuals are very quick to judge others who are not like their own kind. This to me is unethical and wrong. Our world is at a down point where everyone just wants to fend for themselves and their loved ones. We should be coming together as a whole and helping as much as we can to make our world a better place. This may be true, but people will never live down stereotypes and the impacts they have on people today.
Many stereotypes convey negative and unclear judgements. Many times individuals will judge others without even knowing them at all. Stereotypes exist in all different types of races, ethnic groups, and cultures. One of the most common stereotypes involves race. For example, all Blacks are good at sports is a stereotype, because it is grouping them together by race saying they are all athletes. Another huge common stereotype is that men are strongersmarter than women. This stereotype is just hurtful and wrong as well as inaccurate. Stereotyping can lead to bullying and violence. Many individuals live in fear from stereotyping. Stereotyping has a negative impact on our society.
