\bf\large\underline\green{fibre \:communication:-}

1) Large bandwidth : An optical fibre uses optical carrier waves in the high frequency microwave to ultraviolet regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Hence, the bandwidth is extremely!high (>100 GHz) which allows a single fibre to carry several thousand different signals without mixing

2)It is immune from electromagnetic and radio frequency interferences.

3)Transmission loss of optical fibres is very low (< 0.2 dB/km). Therefore, fewer repeaters are required to boost transmitted signal strength. This makes optical communication more economical and increases system reliability and ease of maintenance.

(4) There is a high degree of signal security because there are no significant radiations from optical fibres. Also, any attempt to tap the optically transmitted signal can be easily detected. This feature makes it ideal for military, banking and computer network applications.

(5) Since an optical fibre is made of glass - and not expensive metals, like copper - it is unlikely to be stolen.

(6) The small size, small bending radius and light weight of optical fibres make them suitable for use in aircrafts where space is at a premium.
