What are the applications of power series in electrical engineering?

Most part of electrical engineering is dealing with 2-3 major concepts of mathematics: complex numbers , trigonometry and Calculus. There are many a times when we face major complex calculations in the 2nd year and 3rd which can be simplified.
For example in AC circuits we face difficulties when waves aren't perfectly sinusoidal and with out powers series it becomes very hard to simplify those.
There are many other places as well but this was a small example from experience.
